 | | Rabbit On Waves
- In China and Japan, the rabbit is a lucky animal, a symbol of peace and prosperity, patience, wit, caution, and ingenuity. This bead illustrates a Japanese myth, the “Hare of Inaba”, in which a clever rabbit tricks crocodiles into lining up in the sea so that it can cross the water from an island to the shore. On the bead, the rabbit hops on the waves which conceal the crocodiles. The wave design is adapted from an antique Japanese textile design.
